They Look Like Us. They Act Like Us.
You like vampires and science fiction? Want a more stylish and discreet versions of your favorite creatures of the night? If Yes, then this British mini series is ideal for you. "Ultraviolet" is a British production of 1998 in the form of a television mini series presents a different perspective of vampires but also their hunters. It consists of 6 episodes of 50 minutes and it was the first time in the British Channel 4 Channel from 14 September to 20 October 1998.
Protagonist is Michael, a COP who unwittingly teaming up with a secret organization of hunters vampires when his best friend mysteriously vanishes on the eve of his wedding. The Michael participates in an unusual Chase vampires along with the original members of the secret organization. Key partners is a doctor, a priest and an armed agent of the organization which is supported by the Government and the Vatican. Obviously Michael is not as fervent as other Vampire Hunter and tries to mitigate the Chase in his own way.
Although the central theme of the series is dealing with vampires, in any episode is not heard the word "Vampire". Ratings are used instead as "leeches" and "Fives" Code. The latter refers to the numeric symbol V Roman alphabet for five and by extension in the initial letter V word ' Vampires '.
Among the most notable features of the series is divergent presentation of vampires and the futuristic aesthetic. Here vampires deprived of some classic qualities as transformation into bats but generally retain enough of the bampirika cliché. The requirements, however, have adapted the modern world. For example come in cars with tinted Windows to protect from daylight and traveling over long distances in coffins with electronic timers unlocker.
The agents of the secret organization using special bullets instead of the classic paloukia and grenades with allicin (a antimicrobial substance containing garlic). The remnants of exontwmenwn vampires are placed in metal containers and stored in a specially designed room with ultraviolet light. Beyond the sci/fi series items, highlighted bold and dramatic element primarily through the alienation of the protagonists. In the name of security and ' Sanctuary ' fight against the vampires, the friendly persons should not have contact with team members. The protagonists wear out psychologically from this isolation but do not leave the big purpose.
Evaluating the "Ultraviolet" we can safely say that is certainly an interesting series with kalogrammenoys characters and very possible interpretations. The leading foursome Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean), Susannah Harker (Intimacy), Idris Elba (Luther, Pacific Rim) and Philip Quast pooping very good chemistry between them and give impeccable high-level interpretations. Scenario is gradually revealing thoughtfully hellish designs of vampires giving space to the element of surprise until the last episode. Credit must also be given to series creator Joe Ahearne for dense building, melancholic atmosphere that succeeds. Therein is assisted by the amazing ambient music that accompanies each episode.
On the other hand, there are some downsides that cannot pass unnoticed as the very slow pace of episodes, Puckered effect and lack of gore. Also we understand the author's desire for diversification but even some bampirikoi sharp canines had to appear. The appearance of vampires rather is more discreet than it should. Even so, however, the series remains considerable and is recommended for those who want a different approach of vampirism and delight in strong dramatic stories.

Excellent performances from a strong group of actors, fresh script with innovations and interesting revelations, convincingly depressed and dramatic atmosphere, wonderful background music.
Slow pace, lack of action (and violence), too limited picture of vampires.
