Before the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel", long before the "True Blood", "The Vampire Diaries" and other series with vampires of the modern era, there was a unique series with vampires that could have dramatically changed the history of the bampirikis genre. So let's make a trip up to the not so distant in the 90s to meet …
We are in the year 1996. In April of this month began running on the American Fox network "Kindred: The Embraced". This is a series of Gothic aesthetics with the central theme the vampires but apart from terror contains many elements of drama, police investigation, gangsterism and eroticism. Relies not particularly closely in the role-playing game "Vampires: The Masquerade" of White Wolf Publishing Company.
An excellent cycle consisting of 8 episodes of which only the first exceed one hour in duration while the rest lasting 45 minutes each. The series finale aired on May 9, 1996 when he canceled the continuation. While after the initial cancellation were negotiating efforts by the American network Showtime to reboot of the series, the tragic death of basic starring Mark Frankel in a motorcycle crash in September of the same year, stopped definitively any attempt to continue …
Let's get to the content of the series. The area where the facts are unfolding in San Francisco. In city living 5 large clans vampires under the collective name Kindred. Leader of all factions are the Julian (Mark Frankel) which bears the title "Prince". Clans of vampires living secretly from people and obey a grid laws to maintain their privacy. The Julian is inter alia responsible for the strict observance of laws, coordinating the actions of the clan but the exemplary punishment of those vampires go astray or endanger the privacy of their kind.
The paintings used to decorate various locations in the series are paintings made by actor Jeff Kober who masquerades as the leader of the faction of Nosferatu.
Aside from the vampires in a tangled events police officer, Frank (C. Thomas Howell) and a reporter, Caitlin (Kelly Rutherford). The Frank discovers that the city hosts vampires and builds a freakish collaboration with Julian to address threats from some vampires that deviate from the framework of bampirikoy law and acting maliciously. The reporter intends to investigate the dark life of Julian but develops with an intense love affair.
Each episode presents a unique threat (including case) Although there is a general shift direction in which a certain faction demonstrates the increasingly powerful opposition to the power of Julian. One of the advantages of the series is the variety of great and well-made characters. Such are, for example, leaders of the five factions. But the factions are of great interest. Of them stands out easily the faction of Nosferatu whose members have karafla heads referring to classic horror figure of count Orlok from the Nosferatu (1922).
Of course, undisputed protagonist remains the adikochamenos Mark Frankel in the role of Julian. Playing so well and convincingly, Les and his role as "Prince of the city" was made especially for him. It is not strange then that his death meant the death of the series after he was the soul of. They were really irreplaceable. As he could not continue the Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston without or without C Michael Dexter. Hall so "Kindred: The Embraced" could not be removed by Mark Frankel.
Has significant presence and Kelly Rutherford as reporter and mortal love Julian's Companion. Generally these interpretations are at high levels and the script pulls the appropriate severity. Of course the series isn't perfect by displaying a few mass here and there. For example the choreographies of some battles between vampires are somewhat inadequate, as if they were shot in the leg. Some also argued that the series was too full for eight episodes presenting much data (characters, background and clan characters etc) in too short of time.
However, despite some flaws, the "Kindred: The Embraced" was a superb range of gothic horror with a distinct style that did not trouble to develop their loyal fans from the gennofaskia. It is a pity that left us so early because it was light lantern that had a lot to give. There was plenty of talent in cast and endless scope for new ideas that will ektinassan turn to great heights. We hope through this text his friends did not know horror "Kindred: The Embraced" to seek and be left in the dark embrace. You definitely won't lose.

Extremely interesting and kalogrammenoi characters, very good performances, neat combination of many film genres in a mixture of inspired scenario.
A few scenes of conflict are not as well made, overloading the episodes with lots of data.
