It will get under your skin.
Terror is more than skin deep.
The parasites have a field day in this suspenseful horror film of the not-so-active British Toby Wilkins. The "Splinter" is a direct and dynamic despite the obvious shortcomings of manages to pique your interest and WINS even on your favorite spots. From the first scene that an apparently infested animal attacks the officer a benzinadikoy with fatal results until the protagonists trapped in gas station and the continuation of their battle with the parasitic organism, the film lets not turn your attention elsewhere.
The entrapment of the protagonists at the gas station where he was killed and the official start occurs completely unexpectedly. A couple who drove to country road found another hostage couple with a criminal past who is wanted by the police. But during their journey are under attack from an infected creature also stop at the nearby gas station to search help. There wooed by the lethal parasite that infects his victims and uniting their bodies forming an even more menacing creature. The four heroes temporarily forget the hostages-kidnappers and trying to survive against a fearsome enemy that looks warm hosts to parasitisei and suck their blood! Will they succeed?
The film won six awards at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, USA. Specifically won the Awards best editing, best original score, best film, best make-up, best special effects and best director.
The truth is that the "Splinter" ushered straight to the Chase. Maybe even comes too quickly by ignoring the desire of many (I) for building richer background on the same parasite and infectious attitude. The parasite appears, it kills, it occupies corpses and continues in the same pattern. The four young men are the next target. It is generally a positive that the action unfolds in the closed environment of the building of benzinadikoy after so intensifies the terror and the sense of threat.
The creature in the complex form of actually looks unstoppable and full House sinister (here seems to have influences from "The Thing"). The characters are generally nice though hardly resembles someone. Apart from the numerous scenes with suspense there are others with much blood shaking gore's index soared. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be a vision which improves the image shape for the movie. Ok, good action, gore, suspense, special effects, but beyond the dipole parasite-heroes don't take something bigger or shocking. This lack of restraint and feeling somehow harms good image of "Splinter". Some clichéd script-level dialogues and there are also here and there.
If you don't particularly bother the above-mentioned disadvantages then take an eyelid at "Splinter" and probably won't regret it.

Rich suspense, some very tough scenes with plenty of gore, well-made effects, claustrophobic atmosphere.
Lack of vision, lack of satisfactory explanations for the origin of the parasite, trivial behaviors and situations in a generally simplistic script.
