Box Office

Known to insiders of the kind, likable Don Coscarelli influenced by fear of death and of nightmares, decides to isolate in a cabin in the Woods to write his next film. This film is none other than the cult masterpiece, the Phantasm.

In that movie well, seeing the Mike, spying on the funeral of a friend of his brother, Jody, observes that a strange feeling hovering in the air. He sees dwarfs with robes to make walks in the cemetery, but to believe his eyes or is a figment of the nightmares he sees in the evenings? When he sees the undertaker to unearths a coffin and lifts with typical superhuman comfort and puts it into the hearse understands how something happens and responsible for all the missing bodies from their graves is the "Tall Man".

Trying to explain his brother who apparently didn't believe him, so he decides to explore a monk of the headquarters of the Psiloy Man, the mausoleum. There the Mike witnesses horrific things but manages to gather evidence in the form of a moving cut finger bleed yellow blood. This is enough to convince and Jody. The rest of the film deals with the research of two brothers and the terrifying secret that they discover.

Horror Trivia

The first cut of the film was around 3 hours. From these the Don Coscarelli lasted only half. The other half laid the basis for the Phantasm IV: Oblivion.

phantasm-ballThe "Ghosts from another dimension" (as is the title in Greek), is not the typical low budget b-movie of the 70s. The difference with the others is that it is more deep, as it deals with themes such as family, loss and bereavement. Is a film brimming with emotion and this is shown by the fact that the Coscarelli wrote, directed, filmed, did the production and editing all alone, so this film is the result of consuming passion of an individual. However, being a horror film, it remains faithful to its roots, creating an amazing uncomfortable atmosphere throughout, and feeling himself the terror of what will be waiting for you behind the corner of the imposing tremendous mausoleum.

The real power of Phantasm but this characteristic that sets it apart from most horror films of the era, is the surreal narrative history, a history that while doesn't seem to have any logic, is both hypnotic and attractive at the same time. The crazy tone of the film is based on a nightmarish dream sequences, outlandish and outrageous weapons explanation of events of the project. The Angus Scrimm looks perfect for the role of the Tall Man one of the most eccentric, special and virtual villains of horror cinema.

The film has the technical errors which are justified given the very small budget, but the effects are remarkable, as are all practical and result inventiveness of rates. Gore To definitely not plenty like in other films of the time, we said, the Phantasm's strength lies elsewhere, but this does not mean that there are no moments that some could look away from the screen! Finally could not make specific reference to the classical theme of the film which has become and cover by the legendary death metal band Entombed.

Terribly atmospheric film with a plot that makes you guess what happens, your images are left to mind either because it is terrifying because it is so surreal that you cannot forget.

Mediocre acting also in many it may seem a little difficult to watch the events.
