The New York Ripper-the New York Ripper (1982)
Lo squartatore di New York
1 Hour and 31 Minutes (91 Min)
New York City: It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to die there!
Slashing Up Women Was His Pleasure!
One of the most provocative films of the "Godfather of gore" Lucio Fulci that was accused, among other things, for being a misogynist is the infamous "The New York Ripper" of 1981. It is one of the most bloody giallo all-time and categories that do not appear unfounded judging by the content of resources otherwise Italian film. The case has to do with a series of appalling murders of young women that take place in New York. Detective Fred Williams (Jack Hedley) with the help of a psychologist searches for the paranoid while the violent killings continue.
It is true that you hardly remembered something beyond the bloody slayings of film. Real murder are portrayed with incredible brutality. The raw realism is the present participle of choquer. even the most Hardy in gore. Of course there is the mystery as to each with a series of giallo suspects to appear on our screen from time to time, there is the effort of the police investigation to understand the thinking and action of the murderer while the suspense rises sharply in the finale as the climate of paranoia. All this guarantee at least one interesting film despite its lack of originality. The most bizarre element offers little originality in "The New York Ripper" is that the killer used to speak like a duck during the attack and phone calls to the police. With regard to the motivation of manic I think proves somewhat anempneysto, without persuading the discerning viewer who would rather wait a smarter idea behind all this terrible massacre and the distorted voice of paranoid.
The film was banned in Britain for many years. Even today circulates in censored version.
Apart from this, the film doesn't hesitate to offer many bare shots and some daring, scenes of a sexual nature accompanied by hot sayings of stakeholders that will satisfy your lustful Viewer while for others it is simply irrelevant. By topic "The interpretation New York Ripper" doing relatively well (for cubic of at least) with a variety of characters who satisfactorily perform their role without any memorable presence. Other notable features are the lively music, something between jazz and disco that matches the movie's climate policeman as well as a cameo appearance of Lucio Fulci in the role of Chief of police. And unfortunately for us Greeks … one of the key suspects is a sex addict decadent Greek immigrant (no need to get patriotic yet, eh?). I just hope they don't was this picture that the Americans had for Greek emigrants in the 80s …
In short, "The New York Ripper" is a provocative and disturbing horror film hard and definitely not the most unpredictable giallo. Due to the realism of the shock more than other bloody Fulci's films like "Zombie 2" and the "City of the living dead ' and the nasty spectacle that we know that it can happen and has happened in reality than people with disordered personality. The most frightening element that emerges from the film is that killers like that of "The New York Ripper ' may indeed be living amongst us …
New York Ripper
- The start where a dog brings to the owner of a severed arm and the shocked look of its owner. Smart scenes like this prepare us for what will follow.
- His creepy a girl on a bed that becomes slow and agonizing with razor. The detail of this scene might make you take the food we just ate so I care!
- An impressive target pistols on the cheek! For something such scenes we hat in great "the godfather of gore" Fulci.

Wealth of incredibly violent murders, upbeat but matching the mood music.
Overly simplistic script with inadequate answer to ending, evidence of misogyny.
