"In The Mouth of Madness" is one of the most remarkable moments of John Carpenter in the 90s. It is the 3rd part of the so-called "Revelatory Trilogy" with the previous two parts being the classic ' The Thing ' (1982) and the wonderful "Prince of Darkness" (1987). The peculiarity of this film lies in the fact that it is a general form of tribute to the great horror author H.P. Lovecraft and imaginary but without transferring a particular story on the screen. Instead it borrows various elements from labkraftiana works like "Big Old" (Old Ones) and inserts with successful way to a dynamic movie supernatural horror that surprisingly did not make the Bang that we would expect in the commercial part.

The case of "In The Mouth of Madness" revolves around a private investigator specializing in the investigation of insurance fraud. When the famous horror writer Sutter Cane stories mysteriously disappears before the release of the last of the ponimatos, the Publisher of instructs the investigator to locate him and regain the manuscript. Naturally the investigator suspects fraud in support of his forthcoming book publicity. Though various strange events that punctuate his mission, put skepticism into strong test and the skeptical man teeters between reality and fiction, in a crazy world full of dangers and even more horrible revelations. And all this is happening amid an unexplained outbreak of violence in human societies with operators of … readers of Sutter Cane's novels …

Horror Trivia

The very title of the film refers to two works of H.P. Lovecraft. This is the "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" (1936) and "At The Mountains of Madness" (1931).

The well-written script of ' In The Mouth of Madness "(but not avoid a few excesses) probably won't be portrayed so vividly if not managed by a horror Director Carpenter's caliber, who like experienced" chef "prepares delicacies using good quality source materials. The Carpenter copes with the directorial ability to create a truly terrifying and dark movie, with evocative atmosphere, mystery, suffocating climate for the protagonist (and possibly for us) and clever manipulation of supernatural elements without katagelastes excesses. The special effects, the make-up and very dignified presence of actor Sam Neill (The Hunt for Red October, Jurassic Park) support the effort with the end result is more than satisfactory. Among other note and the presence of enormous Charlton Heston in the short role of Publisher.

The gradual sinking of the hero from the level of the cold logic of paranoia and the insatiable frenzy of the crowd with Cane's books flag which refers to the ease of dissemination of ideas, suggest that the film aims to highlight additional issues beyond the basic mission is the terror. The familiar with Lovecraft's pleasure in touring this tribute but the film addressed to a wider public of terror without being strictly limited to labkraftiana patterns. Another proof of "madness" is a reference to the Stephen King through a ticklish comparison while the figure of Sutter Cane could be identified and by Lovecraft himself. Generally the horizons of ' In The Mouth of Madness "(" in the mouth of madness ") is as open as needed to not become stretched the final product and remains attractive. Of the last truly great films of Carpenter …
