ΚΡΙΤΙΚΗ

Case: "The House With Laughing Windows" tells the story of an art restorer who is invited to a small village to mend the wall painting of the local church. There he learns shocking secrets about the creator of fresh from a friend but the second death motivates him to definitively clarify the mystery surrounding the macabre fresh and dark past.

This Italian giallo Pupi Avati is quite different from many "relatives". The isolated environment of the Italian province, the hopelessly small community where evolving facts and artistic touches introduced by his creator, are incentives to deal with "The House With Laughing Windows". A film that generally meets in spite of clear disadvantages.

Stefano is the protagonist, a conservator of paintings and artworks which at the invitation of the Mayor of a small Italian village visits the region to restore a damaged fresco in the local church. But immediately it becomes clear that there is something wrong with the case. The table hides macabre secrets as it is informed by a friend and employer located in the village. The designer was mentally retarded person who inspired the drawings from the facial expressions people dying so artistic depictions of human morfasmwn look particularly plausible. Also the behavior of the locals is a little freakish, and along with them the Stefano accepts and creepy phone calls that have puzzled him. After the death of his friend and informant under unclear circumstances, Stefano peismwnei and seeks to clarify the whole thing. As deeper but entangled in case both are increasing the risks for him and locals who help him. Corpses begin to slowly accumulate in the village …

Horror Trivia

To "The House With Laughing Windows" is the fifth integrated Pupi Avati's film, which was an active Director since 1970.

The case is of great interest and the directorial film care caters to emerge quickly the assets. One of these is obviously the artistic aesthetics developed through well-designed visual representations of frescoes and tables. This image is reinforced by the attitude of "koyltoyriari" protagonist who immediately understands the existential art messages that the presented unlike axestoys villagers who ignore their aesthetics and their metaphors. The Avati builds the ideal atmosphere of decadence, despair and morbidity that constantly accompanies his job. The excellent soundtrack of Amedeo Tommasi blends seamlessly with the decadent and mysterious atmosphere of film intensifying terror and the atmosphere. The terrifying revelations to the finale bear hair Banister, filodwrwntas audiences with haunting and wicked pictures, rich and with a few doses of black humor.

However, the work of Avati displays and some striking flaws that annoy sharply but fortunately not so decisively in order to cause frustration in the viewer that from the beginning has set a high standard. For example, we meet characters who initially seem that will play an important role in developments but very soon disappear from the scene without convincing justification, leaving embarrassing gaps in the plot of "The House With Laughing Windows" while others have frustratingly Puckered participation. Also despite the terrible shock of finale, dominates the sense that Avati ended his somewhat abruptly while clearly merited deeper treatment. All these together with the pretty much expected occasional simplifications of the script reduces the feeling of satisfaction that we receive from the film, but the "scales" tilted toward positive sign.

The challenging topic of closed, ailing communities such as that of the film often does not reply in giallo and conjures up the main theme from the very good "Don't Torture A Duckling" (1972) by Lucio Fulci. You might annoy some, but personally I find no good reason to am negatives by choosing screenwriters. Others likely to detect and a subtle attack on the Church and has argued – not unfounded – that the whole film is an allegorical way of expressing Italy's effort to shake off the fascist past in the postwar years.
