1 Hour and 29 Minutes (89 Minutes)
There is a fate worse than death.
Often not really crazy, incoherent and distasteful but horror movies provoke a sympathy so you don't want to completely burying for some strange reason. This is a rather rare combination that creates in many irritation, embarrassment and laughter while in others more tolerant (and obviously fewer), simply represents a relatively pleasant break to watch the next-serious this time-horror movie. In this strange category belongs the "Grotesque" in 1988 which starring the famous from her role in "Exorcist" Linda Blair!
Keeping the same name in the movie, Linda visits the home of her uncle, along with a friend in the snowy countryside. There, during the night a group of young pankidwn I invades the House in search of money and in the brouhaha would kill the uncle and aunt of Linda and her friend. But there is a looming presence that lurks somewhere hidden at home and that the villainous invaders have no account. A deformed and mentally retarded young man released from the "freaks" and starts to destroy them one by one. Follow endless Chase to the snowy landscape in the middle of the night where the pankides hunt Linda which popped and the deformed guy chases them pankides to get vengeance for the harm caused to his house.
The "Grotesque" is filmed near Big Bear Lake, artificial Lake in California. The Linda Blair except protagonist has contributed to the production of the film.
While the main idea is generally good and it could build a truly remarkable horror movie, unfortunately the Director, dialogs, interpretations and effects are in tragic lows. The amateurism is pervasive in most of the "Grotesque". The Linda Blair while could save the situation, be largely underused and is wasted on anoysioys dialogues, to chase them in the snow and in a State of unconsciousness. The "pankia" that invade the home creates a chabalediariki "Rock" mood, but doesn't inspire terror at all if the Viewer is not young. The deformed man who annihilate the invaders is basically the main terrifying form of "Grotesque" but despite the attempt to make him seem disgusting, disguise shows quite false, regardless of whether the effect of the idea is chilling with pieces of flesh hanging from his jaw!
Maybe he could improve the overall mess by adding more bloodshed with raw, strong scenes of violence where the deformed man attacked at pankides, but unfortunately neither this done and spent in leisurely straggalismoys, breaking body parts and bones-but don't look particularly realistic-as well as a few shots. Towards the ending becomes apparent again another good idea that's not utilized correctly and completely, while the movie ends quite stupidly. A positive element is the vibrant electronic music that accompanies the film sporadically lifting our mood temporarily. If you see the "Grotesque" completely loose and with chabalediariki mood, probably to have fun despite the obvious kakoygoystia. If you don't want to lose your time watching asobara film like this, don't even bother.
- Some impressive Monster masks who keeps her uncle Linda at the cottage.
- The interesting idea of deformed man who xepastreyei the «bad» and that previously seemed the most serious threat in the film. Despite the procheirotita technique remains a good idea.
- The fatal fracture of the neck of a girl of frikiwn.
- The inspirational but unfinished idea just before the finale about the tragic fate of some pankidwn.
