In this review we don't need to get into lengthy introductions for the great offer of the great Mario Bava in horror cinema. In the extensive filmography we find gems like "Blood And Black Lace" and "Black Sabbath" but less glamorous movies but not reduce the radiation's direction. Case ' underdog ' is the "Five Dolls For An August Moon" of 1970, an uneven giallo devoid of directorial finesse he has grown accustomed to the Italian, but eventually wins esteem in spite of five thanks to subversive plot of that block.
The case of the "Five Dolls For An August Moon" focuses on a relatively small groups of people who gathered in a luxury home on a desert island (hmmm … What evokes this does?). Among the bystanders singles a scientist who recently made an important scientific discovery. This discovery Spurs men's interest groups as smart entrepreneurs are trying to lure the scientist with large sums of money in order to sell them his discovery. The scientist doesn't seem to give but it is not the most serious problem of the gathered. The worryingly inbetween a murderer who kills in the area quietly but effectively attendees. What is the motive of the killer, and what its identity?
The film was shot in just 19 days.
Classic giallo case, overtly influenced by the classic detective fiction Agatha Christie ' Ten Little Niggers "(or" And Then There Were None "). The isolation environment where the Bava puts its characters is ideal after escaping from the island seems unlikely. The island combined with the relaxed, lounge accompanying music exudes a tragic romance, a peculiar melancholy that magnetizes. None of the characters looks innocent until final cleanup. It comes with a wonderful reversal that leaves us aposbolwmenoys and keeps the film rose after the stressful trying to win the viewer's estimation. Among the most characteristic points of the "Five Dolls For An August Moon" is all haunting scenes after almost every murder, where the corpses are placed wrapped in nylon bags in a refrigerator with food. The clever introduction of appropriate music shows that even when you're not in shape, Bava tends to puts its own unique touches on his works.
It is true that the "Five Dolls For An August Moon" still suffers from some obvious flaws that do not leave to lift very high head. Starting from the characters we see that not everyone is as interesting nor their development becomes satisfactory. The harmless nature of the film – a and murders are not reflected in the Act but only in result – disappoints, acting to the detriment of suspense and tension. This is a serious disadvantage as the film too "light" for the average fan of horror. Such diffidence should have avoided by Bava. If they add a few problems and misunderstandings, in particular scenario, we understand why this film is not considered among the best of the Bava. However generally seen pleasantly, and that helps a little, shall we say, normal duration. Take a look, so to check if you can correctly guess the culprit.

Incomplete character development, undue restraint in the field of imaging and bloody gore, some scenario and directorial any frivolity.
