Successful combination of horror and Opera, lyrical atmosphere, inspiring scenes of torture and murder, beautiful music operetikis direction.
Not so good interpretations, a few scenario-backsliding.
It is said that the ' Opera ' is the last truly great film Dario Argento's work before it is expended in a series of mediocre and psiloanempneystwn horror films in the 90 's and the 00 's. Although I disagree with this point of view considering the "Trauma" of 1993 as the last great work of Italian, you won't find valid reasons to argue for the importance of "Opera". In the second half of the 80 ' s o Argento gives us a violent, graphic and giallo kalogyrismeno which follows the usual paths of giallo class, but is enriched by the unique touches and sophisticated beauty allokotis violence that knows how to manage very well in Italian films.
The case revolves around a young opera singer, Betty that after the accident the basic singer who will interpret the Verdi's Macbeth gets surprisingly the position of starting performances. Already since its debut and during the next few days, violent murder erupts within and outside of the building of the Opera, which thrills the young heroine. This is the metaphysical reputation on Katara accompanying the project since the time of Shakespeare that troubles the Betty but realizes now that he has more serious reasons to be concerned. The serial killer approach but doesn't kill. Instead indulging in excruciating game murders associates and friends of the force to monitor the hideous spectacle without being able neither to close her eyes for a while. This copes with the incredibly sadistic method of placement of needles sticking with tape below her eyes holding the knit. The Betty and the Director of the Opera are trying to solve the mystery when the police investigation seems to stagnate.
"Opera" is one of the most successful films of Argento in his homeland as it attracted 1,363,912 spectators in Italian cinemas at the time of its release. In the US it is known and titled "Terror at the Opera."
Three are the main characteristics that make the ' Opera ' great and special film. The first is the amazing music with the inexhaustible variety of subjects from classical operetikoys sounds and atmospheric parts, up to speedarista heavy metal bands Italian local outbreaks. The work of Claudio Simonetti and Brian Eno on the soundtrack is wonderful. The second lies in the rich blood baths, some of which are scenes of anthology. The extremely detailed depiction of murders, as the ball passes through the peephole of the door tearing at consecutive victim's eye that stands behind, confirm the genius and directorial imagination of Argento. The third characteristic that attracts our attention lies in the vibrant shots mainly in the Opera and … in crows! The enrichment plans with the ghoulish creatures breathe a wild beauty on film making the Viewer to travel along with the black birds in "reconnaissance" flights over the seats of the Opera. If the performances were a bit more convincing, if exeleipan various cliches like Betty's nightmares in the past as well as scenario-bangs as the heroine's escape through the air of the House following a little girl, you were talking about an almost masterly giallo. Some will probably chalastoyn than the finale which prima facie showing completely unneeded and climate outside. But knowing his penchant not just ends Argento films, always introducing an unpredictable factor, might be understood. In more sophisticated will bring back memories of the previous work, the wonderful "Phenomena".
