Heal the sickness.
Avante garde-the original aesthetics of the film, neat combination black comedy and horror, exquisite interpretation of the protagonist, the morbid atmosphere of bloody protagonist's dreams.
Some dead spaces without interest, various scenes that have no special meaning as well as some anoysioi dialogs between the protagonist and her mother. Incomplete recovery of some actors.
I'll start this review prepending the axiom that as friends of horror scene should be open-minded and tolerant about innovative ideas that differ from the usual patterns. The degree of "anoichtomyalias" and tolerance of each clearly varies, but the horror cinema from very old was experimenting and dare new openings more often than other types. And that let us take it seriously.
Guided by the above reasoning I attended the "Excision", a peculiar and bizarre horror film from a new player on the scene, Richard Bates Jr. It is certainly a film that is not intended for large mass. On the other hand can be appreciated more by friends of experimental/avant-garde, and other more "intelektoyel" guidelines. At the same time, however, we must be careful so as not to unduly triumphant showing decent daring works as the culmination of experimental film.
Somehow things are well with the ' Excision ' which I liked, with rattled as one point, shocked me up another … but not with already besotted as a whole. Arguably the lead actress AnnaLynne McCord gives terrible interpretation as the paranoid Pauline who has aspirations for a medical career. The cynicism that showcases is phenomenal! Relationships with those around her is hectic and only little sister can pull out from inside of some obvious feelings of affection and love.
The film is an "extension" of the album's short films of 2008 by the same Director.
Other notable characters is the tragic figure of her sister who suffers from cystic fibrosis, the overprotective mother of incarnate from the former porn star Traci Lords and the defeatist father. Noteworthy project is the participation of Malcolm McDowell in the role of Professor of Pauline but not so serious participation in the developments. This is a problem of the film that seems to kick away the opportunity to exploit the good materials of volunteered at dish, something that looks and relatively short duration (about 80 minutes).
While IE like history is interesting, the overall structure of looks unfinished and win. The dynamic finale certainly will shock many viewers but could have been after even more full of events and many previous shock that finally saw not only in the dream world of the protagonist. Though dreams are one of the hallmarks of "Excision" putting artistic touches to the canvas with plenty of blood splashes on blue background.
Give it a chance as long as you're prepared for something much different from the trivial and safe patterns in terror. If you are fans of the black comedy will enjoy even more.
